The Chairman of the National Sports Commission, @ShehuDikko , and the DG, Hon. @BukolaOlopadee , continued the Commission’s nationwide Youth Appreciation Tour with a visit to Nigerian Tulip International Colleges (NTIC), Abuja, where several student-athletes were recognised and rewarded for their outstanding performances across domestic and international competitions under the Commission’s watch.
The ceremony held at the NTIC Abuja Co-ed Conference Hall, 31 Monrovia Street, Wuse 2, Abuja, saw six young athletes of the school receive financial rewards for their achievements in athletics and taekwondo competitions. The initiative follows the approval and support of Mr. President, @officialABAT GCFR, aimed at encouraging young Nigerian talents. Former Minister of Youth and Sports Development, and now Special Adviser to the President on Media and Communication, Mr. @SundayDareSD , was also in attendance.
Award recipients and achievements include:
- Miracle Ezechukwu – Multiple Gold medals at the African Youth Games (Angola 2025) and First African School Games (Algeria 2025), with additional Silver medals at the Islamic Solidarity Games and CAA Region III Championships (₦3,000,000).
- Rosemary Chigozie Ezechukwu – Gold medalist at the African Youth Games and First African School Games, with additional Silver medal at the CAA Region III Championships (₦3,000,000).
- Andrew Miracle Yemi – Silver medalist at the African Junior & Cadet Taekwondo Camp and quarter-finalist at the African Youth Games (₦2,000,000).
- Crown Umeh – Bronze medalist at the African Junior & Cadet Taekwondo Camp (₦1,000,000).
- Unique Kamsiyonna Umeh – Bronze medalist at the First African School Games (Algeria 2025) in Taekwondo (₦1,000,000).
- Adeeze Ezeh Precious – Outstanding Long Jump athlete, recording a 6.05m performance at MTN CHAMPS Benin 2025 (₦1,000,000).
Similarly other qualified and deserving athletes across some schools in Uyo, Akwa Ibom State and Asaba, Delta State were also honored today by the National Sports Commission.
The initiative forms part of the Commission’s renewed push to strengthen grassroots sports development, ensuring young Nigerians excelling in both education and athletics receive encouragement and support.
The National Sports Commission maintains that recognising young talents early is essential to building the future of Team Nigeria on the continental and global stage.
