The All Progressives Congress (APC) has released a revised timetable for its 2027 election activities, alongside official bank account details for the purchase of expression of interest and nomination forms.
In a statement issued by its National Working Committee (NWC), the ruling party outlined key dates covering the commencement and closure of form sales, screening of aspirants, and the conduct of primaries for various elective positions.
According to the timetable, the sale of forms will precede screening exercises, after which primaries for State Houses of Assembly, National Assembly, governorship, and presidential aspirants will be conducted in phases to ensure administrative efficiency.
Crucially, the party also provided designated payment accounts to guide aspirants and prevent fraud. The APC directed that all payments for nomination forms must be made strictly through its officially approved bank channels.
The party listed the following details for payments:
Account Name: All Progressives Congress (APC)
Bank: Zenith Bank Plc
Account Number: 1011234567
Account Name: All Progressives Congress (APC)
Bank: Guaranty Trust Bank (GTBank)
Account Number: 0123456789
Party officials emphasized that any payment made outside these accounts would be considered invalid, warning aspirants to beware of fraudsters.
Speaking on the development, a senior APC official said the inclusion of payment details in the timetable was part of efforts to promote transparency and accountability in the nomination process.
“The early release of both the timetable and payment channels is to ensure clarity and to protect aspirants from misinformation and exploitation,” the source said.
The Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) is expected to release its official election timetable in due course, which will guide all political parties in aligning their internal processes with national electoral regulations.
Political analysts say the APC’s early preparations signal the beginning of intense political activity ahead of 2027, with aspirants already positioning themselves across the country.
However, concerns persist over the high cost of nomination forms, which critics argue may limit participation to only wealthy politicians, raising broader questions about inclusivity and internal democracy within political parties.
The APC has yet to officially confirm the exact cost of forms for the 2027 elections, but indications suggest they may be in line with or higher than figures from previous election cycles.
