Nkeiruka Onyejeocha has resigned from her position as Minister of State for Labour and Employment, bringing her role in President Bola Tinubu’s cabinet to an end.

Announcing her decision on Friday through her X account, the former minister expressed appreciation to President Tinubu for the confidence reposed in her and the opportunity to serve in government.

She described her time in office as a deeply rewarding period in her public service journey, saying it was a privilege to contribute to the administration’s vision for national growth and development.

According to her, leaving office marks the conclusion of one phase of service and the beginning of another, while assuring Nigerians that her commitment to the country’s progress remains unwavering.

Onyejeocha also commended the leadership and staff of the Federal Ministry of Labour and Employment for their dedication, noting that their collective efforts helped drive initiatives focused on workers’ welfare, workplace protection, and job creation.

She further thanked the people of Isuikwuato/Umunneochi Federal Constituency for their support and encouragement throughout her tenure in office.

Her resignation comes in the wake of President Tinubu’s directive requiring all political appointees with intentions to contest the 2027 general elections to vacate their positions by March 31, 2026, in line with the provisions of the Electoral Act 2026.

Several members of the administration have also stepped down following the directive as they prepare for elective contests ahead of the next political cycle.
